An NSFU Records song by Filipino composer Noel Ligutan is featured in an upcoming Dutch film by award-winning director Morgan Knibbe. The film Garden of Earthly Delights is currently in post-production, and it is scheduled to be released later this year. The film's synopsis reads:
Eleven-year-old meth addict Ginto struggles to survive in the slums of an Asian metropolis. Meanwhile, Dutch sex tourist Michael enters the city, torn apart by his dark desires.
In the stormy slums of an Asian metropolis, the eleven-year-old meth-addicted Ginto rejects his prostitute-sister’s motherly care and wants to become a gangster rather than a scavenger. Meanwhile, he struggles with his blossoming sexuality when he falls in love with a boy from his gang and he meets Dutch sex tourist Michael, who is torn apart by his own dark desires.
The song, "Sige Sige Lang" is a song in honor of Ligutan's former bandmate who passed on.
"I wrote the song in dedication to our beloved Anwind band member who lost his battle with colon cancer," LIgutan said. "This composition serves as a heartfelt prayer, asking our departed brother to guide those of us who remain, and if he has found his place in paradise, to help connect our lives with the Almighty above. The song embodies our hope that through him, we may find direction in our spiritual journey while honoring his memory and lasting influence on our lives."
It's not common for Filipino songs to be featured in international films, due to the lack of music licensing companies like NSFU Records. It is a feat that Ligutan is very much thankful for.
"Having my song selected for an international film is an unexpected blessing that marks a significant milestone in my songwriting career, " Ligutan said. "I acknowledge that this creative gift - both the lyrics and melodies - comes through divine inspiration, with me serving merely as a channel for its creation"
The song was brought to NSFU Records by Manila-based label IndiRa.
